The terms behind your $40 reservation

Ascent is a pre-launch product
Ascent footwear is still in development. The shoes are not yet in production, and no physical pairs currently exist for sale. What you see on this site, including product photography and video, shows the design in progress, not a finished, shipping product.
What your $40 payment is
The $40 you pay today is a reservation deposit. It is not the full purchase price of the shoes, and it does not by itself entitle you to receive a pair. It reserves your place in line at founder pricing and helps us gauge real demand before committing to manufacturing.
If you proceed with your order once the shoes are ready, your $40 deposit is applied toward the final purchase price. The current founder pre-order price is $199, which includes your deposit. The expected future retail price, once Ascent is generally available, is $249.
Things may change
Because Ascent is still in active development, product design, specifications, pricing, manufacturing timing, and launch timing may all change before the shoes go into production. We'll do our best to keep reservation holders informed of any material changes, but no specific design, price, or date shown on this site is guaranteed.
Your deposit is refundable
Reservation deposits are refundable under the terms described in our Refund Policy. In short, your $40 deposit is fully refundable for 90 days from the date of purchase, for any reason.
No promise that manufacturing will happen
Reserving a pair helps us decide whether to move forward with manufacturing at all. This is a validation campaign, not a guarantee. Placing a reservation is not a promise from Ascent that manufacturing will definitely occur.
If the project does not proceed
If we determine that Ascent should not move forward with manufacturing, we will inform reservation holders directly and refund every outstanding deposit in accordance with our Refund Policy. You will not be left wondering what happened to your reservation.
